Frequently Asked Questions
Are your books available outside Australia?
The Natural Way of Things is published in the United Kingdom by Allen & Unwin UK and North America by Europa Editions. New editions will be published in Dutch, German, Polish, Turkish, French and Spanish in 2017. Other books may be purchased from a number of Australian booksellers for delivery overseas. Please try Booktopia, Better Read than Dead, Avid Reader, Readings or Gleebooks.
Do you run any courses or programs for writers?
Occasionally, yes. If you would like to join a mailing list for The Creativity Clinic, a collaboration offering new courses and programs for creatives, subscribe in the form at left, or follow us on Facebook here.
Do you run a mentorship program?
My mentoring program is full for the foreseeable future.
Can I interview you about your work?
Maybe! Please email Louise Cornege, Allen & Unwin.
Can you contribute to my anthology / magazine?
Not at the moment, unfortunately. I'm working full-time on a new book.
Would you speak at my festival / event?
Possibly - email me to check. If you're unsure of fees to pay writers for appearances and speaking engagements, please see the Australian Society of Authors' recommended rates here.
Will you write a cover blurb for my / my author's book?
It's flattering to be asked, but for a range of reasons I write book endorsements only very, very rarely. Unfortunately I'll almost certainly need to decline your request.
Will you teach a workshop at my festival / university / school?
I do teach, but not very often. Feel free to contact me about this, but please note my workshop fees are higher than those listed in the ASA recommended speaking and teaching rates here. If you don't have a good budget for teaching it's unlikely I can help out.
Can you read my manuscript / help me get my book published?
Unfortunately not. There are many excellent places for writers to go to improve their skill and chances of publication by improving their work - in Australia, try the Australian Society of Authors or the writers' centre in your state or capital city. Many major publishers now have days of the week during which they are happy to receive unsolicited submissions - check their websites for details.
