Frequently asked questions

Can you contribute to my anthology / magazine?
Not at the moment, unfortunately.  I'm working full-time on a new book.

Would you speak at my festival / event?
Possibly - email my publicist to check.

Will you write a  cover blurb for my / my author's book?
Unfortunately I get way too many requests for this and can't oblige - for a range of reasons I write book endorsements only very, very rarely, and never solicited ones.

Will you teach a workshop at my festival / university / school?
I do teach, but not very often, and my workshop fees are higher than those listed in the ASA recommended speaking and teaching rates here. If you don't have a good budget for teaching it's unlikely I can help out.

Can you read my manuscript / help me get my book published?
Unfortunately not. There are many excellent places for writers to go to improve their skill and chances of publication by improving their work - in Australia, try the Australian Society of Authors or the writers' centre in your state or capital city. Many major publishers now have days of the week during which they are happy to receive unsolicited submissions - check their websites for details.
